A collection "Drawings from Prison" were made between 1951 and 1959 in the prisons of the Penitentiary of Lisbon, where Álvaro Cunhal spent seven years in rigorous isolation, and from the Fort of Peniche, from where he escaped on January 3, 1960. They were first published by the "Avante!" Editions in December 1975 as part of fundraising initiatives for the Portuguese Communist Party.
The women surrounding her appear deep in thought, their expressions conveying a quiet intensity. The soft light that filters through the room enhances the sense of stillness, focusing on the bond and shared experience of these women. The composition emphasizes both the solidarity of the group and the individual reflections of each figure. The scene evokes themes of waiting, contemplation, and unity in the face of unseen circumstances.

If you are entitled to a return, we will refund your purchase price and a credit will automatically be applied to your original method of payment.
