A collection "Drawings from Prison" were made between 1951 and 1959 in the prisons of the Penitentiary of Lisbon, where Álvaro Cunhal spent seven years in rigorous isolation, and from the Fort of Peniche, from where he escaped on January 3, 1960. They were first published by the "Avante!" Editions in December 1975 as part of fundraising initiatives for the Portuguese Communist Party.
The figures are softly outlined, and the simplicity of their forms conveys a sense of calm and introspection. Their closeness to each other, sitting side by side on a stone-like platform, suggests a deep connection or shared experience. The composition focuses on the serenity of the moment, inviting viewers to join in the quiet contemplation of what lies ahead.

If you are entitled to a return, we will refund your purchase price and a credit will automatically be applied to your original method of payment.
