A collection "Drawings from Prison" were made between 1951 and 1959 in the prisons of the Penitentiary of Lisbon, where Álvaro Cunhal spent seven years in rigorous isolation, and from the Fort of Peniche, from where he escaped on January 3, 1960. They were first published by the "Avante!" Editions in December 1975 as part of fundraising initiatives for the Portuguese Communist Party.

The composition reflecting a sense of fatigue after a long day. One figure, resting their chin on clasped hands, gazes thoughtfully into the distance. The others are seen with heads lowered, finding comfort in stillness. Farming tools rest by their side, reinforcing their connection to labor and the land. The composition uses soft shading and rounded forms to evoke a sense of peace and contemplation amidst hard work.
