A collection "Drawings from Prison" were made between 1951 and 1959 in the prisons of the Penitentiary of Lisbon, where Álvaro Cunhal spent seven years in rigorous isolation, and from the Fort of Peniche, from where he escaped on January 3, 1960. They were first published by the "Avante!" Editions in December 1975 as part of fundraising initiatives for the Portuguese Communist Party.
The figures are solid and grounded, with soft, flowing lines that evoke a sense of cooperation and care. The composition emphasizes physical strength balanced with a sense of calm, as one figure leans in to provide support while the other rests. The shading enhances the rounded forms of their bodies, symbolizing resilience and unity in the face of challenges. This artwork highlights the importance of helping and supporting one another.

If you are entitled to a return, we will refund your purchase price and a credit will automatically be applied to your original method of payment.
