A collection "Drawings from Prison" were made between 1951 and 1959 in the prisons of the Penitentiary of Lisbon, where Álvaro Cunhal spent seven years in rigorous isolation, and from the Fort of Peniche, from where he escaped on January 3, 1960. They were first published by the "Avante!" Editions in December 1975 as part of fundraising initiatives for the Portuguese Communist Party.
The central figure, stands between these two contrasting worlds, observing the spectral presence. The atmosphere is surreal, with the ghost’s draped cloak creating an unsettling yet calm demeanor. The dark tones and soft shading of the landscape enhance the mystical and dreamlike quality of the piece, suggesting an encounter between the world of the living and the supernatural.

If you are entitled to a return, we will refund your purchase price and a credit will automatically be applied to your original method of payment.
